The "Friends of the Hartsville Memorial Library" is a non-profit organization founded in 1965 to provide support services for our library. The Friends help by coordinating volunteer projects, raising funds for special purposes, and sponsoring programs and events. When you join, you will be contributing to an organization that works to promote quality library service. Your ideas and support are needed. The Friends share your interest in books, our library and the Hartsville community. The Hartsville library has been in continuing existence since 1936. It was located above the Center Theater from 1936 until 1964 when it moved to the old Post Office building. The current facility was opened in 1994, with an addition of 4,100 square feet added in 2001. The building is 20,700 square feet and houses over 90,000 items.
